We are just around the corner for Kindergarten. While we have been working within our program to develop Kindergarten Readiness, we are now approaching that new transition for our children and families in our care. We will continue to work on areas of self-help, family style meal service, cleaning up after meal service, maintaining our classroom environment, dressing ourselves, tie our shoes, recognizing our first and last names, and writing our names.
We continue to work on recognizing letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, however we no longer review them alphabetically or numerically, we now recognize them by site. We will be able to identify shapes, count from 1 to 20, compare and classify objects. We will work both independently and in group activities.
Social and emotional growth is amazing as they prepare to move on to their next school experience. We continue to offer Learning Center experience and our teacher directive curriculum becomes more structured, to allow projects that can extend over days. With teacher directive projects, the curriculum challenges the students to find answers, problem solve and use the learning centers to continue with hands on experiences in areas of literacy, math and science.
