Toddler
Our day in the toddler room starts out with Circle Time, where we emphasize learning shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. We read, sing, count, talk about the weather, and practice flash cards. We do daily art projects based on the letter of the week and the weekly theme. Free art and group art are also incorporated. At ABC Learning Center, we feel that it is important for children to have group play as well as independent play, and we always factor that into our schedule. Daily sensory activities can include play dough, water play, shaving cream ‘painting’, or sand play. Our schedule also includes two thirty minute outside play times, weather permitting.
At our center, we strongly encourage the children to learn independent skills, but we are always there to lend a helping hand. Development of crucial skills such as zipping up their jacket, putting on their shoes, and washing their hands are practiced daily. Each child is different, but we typically begin the potty training process anywhere between 18-24 months and we ask that parent supply extra underwear and cloths. We always keep you updated on your child’s progress, and try to build the best communication between the parent and teacher.
